There are moments during my photographic path when I feel that everyone else is more creative

There are moments during my photographic path when I feel that everyone else is more creative than me,I then have to pick myself up and think it’s important to remember that creativity is a subjective trait and can manifest itself in various ways.

I like to think that we are have uniqueness within our styles of work and we need to embrace what we do: Understand that our creativity is unique to us. Comparing myself to others can be very counterproductive. I embrace my own strengths and find ways I can express my creativity in it’s own way.

I look at the work of other photographers, both renowned professionals and emerging talents. I study their techniques, compositions, and use of light. Discover new styles and perspectives that can inspire me to experiment and try something different in my own photography. This is often something I will do with students work when grading their work

I like to explore different avenues: I try exploring different creative outlets, such as writing, painting, music, or even cooking. I experiment with new ideas and techniques. I might discover a hidden talent or passion that I didn't realise I had.

Surround myself with inspiration: Surrounding myself with people these could be the students or others within the same field as me, never become a person by yourself, that is something I always fight against. I find places, travel and exploration. Visiting new places, whether near or far, can provide me with a fresh perspectives and new subjects for me to photograph. Explore unfamiliar neighbourhoods in my own city or plan a trip to a location I’ve always wanted to visit. The change of scenery can reignite my creative spark. I love to spend time in the great outdoors and immerse myself in the beauty of nature. Explore different landscapes, observe the play of light and shadow, and capture the intricate details of flora and fauna. Nature has an endless array of subjects and compositions that can spark my creativity. I attend art exhibitions, read books, watch movies, or engage in conversations with people who stimulate my creativity this could be in person or via social channel.

I practice regularly: I know that like any skill, creativity improves with practice. I find time to regularly engage with my creative activities. I set aside some time for brainstorming, doodling, or engaging in other creative pursuits like writing this blog. This is something that allows me the time to think about how I can improve, never stagnate or think you have reach your journeys end with learning.

I love to collaborate with others: Collaborating with others will often spark new ideas and perspectives within my head. Working with the students is a great collaboration. I look out for opportunities to collaborate with like-minded individuals or join creative communities where you can share ideas and receive feedback.

I draw inspiration from my own life experiences and emotions. Reflect on meaningful moments, my relationships, or personal journeys. I use photography as a way to express and capture the essence of these experiences, allowing my emotions to guide my creative choices.

I always think, inspiration can come from unexpected places. I stay open-minded, I am curious, and allow myself to explore and experiment. Sometimes, I know that taking a breaks and stepping away from photography for a while can also help me recharge my creative energy.
